ALL American

Today I met with a group of ladies from the American Women's Club and went shopping on the Yongsan Military Base here in Seoul.  The base is the largest American base outside of the US and has quite a bit to offer.  Unfortunately it is very hard to get a base pass, but when you do the amenities are priceless.  We were able to shop at the second hand store which benefits both the military and local Korean charities.  I picked up some books, a few things for the girls, Christmas ornaments and more.

After shopping, we had lunch at an "American" restaurant.  I can't tell you how much my friends and I were looking forward to this.  Go figure that today they were serving an Oriental-style buffet.  It was still good and we made some memories.

We headed toward the Dragon Hill Lodge which houses military members and their families during their transition to and from Korea.  They have a deli and many people picked up lunch meat, pastries and other American favorites.  I pre-ordered our Thanksgiving dinner.  Given the price of turkeys here at $60.00, having the entire meal catered for $90 (serves 10-12) sounded pretty good to me.  And I don't have to cook!!!  They will deliver the meal to the gate on Thanksgiving day for us to pick up and bring home.

Ha ha - now you can truly appreciate how I get all sentimental and feel at home when I go to IKEA :)
